BEYONCE KNOWLES FALLS

Okay, so Beyonce fell on her face during a July 24th? concert in Orlando, Florida whilst gyrating on a stair case. Then the girl gets up and keeps on singing (that’s actually really cool, cause it looks like it hurt), later she tells the audience not to post the video of her falling on the internet. . . so of course, no one did. . .

Mysteriously, all the really good footage of Beyonce falling on her face has been banned from the internet (read: Beyonce has more power then jesus), a few shaky far away images, probably filmed on a phone, have survived:

It’s over. It’s finally over.

There will be no more big summer pop-culture; The Simpsons, Transformers, Harry Potter, all over. Lameness will now descend on the world of the main-attraction and settle like tepid water infeasted with mosquitoes till September. . . or perhaps beyond. On the up-side no one has to spend their well-earned cash on movies for awhile and we can all go back to comfortably hating everything they put out.

Nestopia

An open source NES/Famicon emulator written in C++.

Basically this means that when you download it you have an 8-bit nintendo (that’s the first one) and a Super Nintendo (2nd one) and all of the games for them that you want with a little bit of digging around. Originally created for windows but now you can have it for your Mac OS or even Linux.

Download

Yes. The internet is amazing and it gives you everything that you want.

EXTREME SCOOTERS

Sounds like a joke but it is true. Though, as a friend said the other night “at the end of the day you’re still on a scooter.”

Oh, and I wouldn’t watch all four minutes, you’ll get the drift after 2. . .

Chief Magazine

We’ve never picked up the printed version but the online mag is amazing. Brooklyn-centric, but let’s face it, even if we don’t want it to be true that’s where many of the taste-makers live out their taste-maker lives, and we can’t help but be a tiny bit curious about that hip inner circle (or inside joke?). Their blog is always good for a chuckle, check out this recent post of “Thriller” as performed by inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center. . . and they have fantastic interviews with people you’ve short of heard of and want to hear more about, like this one with Mark Cobrasnake Hunter and Cory Kennedy.

7-Elevens turned Kwik Marts

We know, that by now, everyone has at least heard of the 7-Eleven Kwik Mart phenomena, and most of you have no doubt seen the countless you-tubes and blogs and flickr sets but we had to go anyways because it’s the best movie-tie-in advertisement we’ve ever, ever, seen and we actually pray at night that 7-Eleven makes a million bucks off of it. It’s the pop-up store to end all pop-up stores, a cross between an amusement park and cheap sugars, a way to actually be in a cartoon. . .

We went to the one in Times Square, 42 St. between 8th and 9th, right across from The Port Authority:

Evidently, Apu’s last name is Nahasapeemapetilon. For somewhat obvious reasons, some people have mentioned they think the stores a little racist. We don’t even want to comment.

It’s easier to share then to own

Philly Car Share’s logo was designed by Print Liberation

Cars. Can’t live with them without getting a parking ticket and extreme road rage, can’t live without them if you wanna leave the city on your own terms, haul something that won’t fit into a back-pack, or give into your natural laziness. The answer is organizations such as Philly Car Share. You sign up (the free or monthly payment version), get an electronic key, make a reservation on-line and then you have hassle-free transportation. No need for car insurance.

Boston, New York, San Francisco, Washington D.C., Austin, Madison, WI, Chicago, Portland, Los Angeles, and Minneapolis are all reported to have similar programs.

The US shares cars and has a healthy number of cyclists but a number of European cities have recently taken to sharing bikes. This morning the New York Times had an article on the new French company Velib, while The Vulture has for some time been hearing reports on Bicing (almost free cycling in Barcelona, Spain), and yellow and white community bicycle programs that have sprung up (and usually disbanded due to theft) all over.
